So I Am Neurotype 2A – What Does That Mean?

Type 2A Neurotypes are adrenaline dominant, meaning they have low levels of adrenaline at rest but have highly sensitive adrenergic receptors. Type 2A’s also have a pretty equal balance of all of the other neurotransmitters which makes them adaptive by nature. They can fit their personality to match any situation. Due to their low adrenaline levels, type 2A’s are typically more introverted and insecure. Once adrenaline spikes, they are more confident, outgoing, and boisterous

  • Procrastinators who are very indecisive
  • Thrive on variance, which mimics their training preferences

How Do I Train for Neurotype 2A

Neurotype Training will allow you to:

So What Kind of Workouts Do I Do as a Type 2A Neurotype?

Neurotype 2A’s will thrive on variation. Everything tends to work for them in terms of progression, but not everything works for a long time.

Type 2A’s being adrenaline dominant do well with shorter rest periods, supersets, and a combination of strength plus bodybuilding work. Think of a typical Crossfitter.

 They can handle high frequency, moderate intensity, and pretty high volume. The most important consideration for a type 2A is making sure they do not desensitize their adrenergic receptors.

A type 2A doesn’t do well with multiple rest days in a row because their confidence will go down and it can impact their motivation to train.

How Do I Eat for Neurotype 2A?

Similar to their training preferences, Neurotype 2A’s need variance with their diets. A carb cycling approach tends to work very well with this type of person. Caution with them lies on them following their protocol. They can tend to be program hoppers due to the constant need of variance.

Type 2A’s are adrenaline dominant so we want to support dopamine levels by consuming adequate protein (since adrenaline is fabricated downstream from dopamine). We also want to support sensitivity in the adrenergic receptors.

Macro Protocol:

Macros will be set depending on the type of training:

A hypertrophy session day may have a 30% protein, 20% fat, and 50% carb layout. Where a strength session day would look more like a 30% protein, 50% fat, and 20% carb.

Variance is key with these people. Type 2A’s do well with low meal frequency due to their adrenaline sensitivity. On all training days, meals should be spaced 4-5 hours apart. Rest days include a 16-20 hour fasting window, which means 4-8 hour feeding window. During the feeding window on rest days you can eat as many meals as you like to hit your targets.
