“Can you help me lose weight even if I’m perimenopausal, have PCOS, only have time for 3 workouts per week, and travel for work?”
I got that exact message yesterday and answered the way I always do …
We’ve helped a number of clients in a very similar situation.
I hope you don’t take this the wrong way but … you’re not that special.
I mean, you are. You are in the sense that there has never been another you and there will never be another you in the history of time (presumably).
But, you’re also not that special.
We’ve seen it all. We’ve been through it all. Not a single person has ever hit me with a … “can you help me even if …” question that I’ve never seen before.
It’s Tuesday which means it’s time to recap our team call where we share all of our wins and/or struggles with clients.
I started doing this a few weeks ago and the response has been amazing. And my assumption is because it helps you to realize that you’re not alone. And that your problems CAN be solved.
So let’s peep the round up for this week …
Learning lifelong habits to create sustainable results
Coach Liz kicked things off with a client graduation win. My absolute favorite kind. Most people look at the coaching investment as something that covers a specific timeframe like 3 or 6 or 12 months. But don’t overlook the fact that you learn how to make progress and keep it forever.
This particular client had some serious mindset hurdles to overcome. She refused to believe in her own progress. Even when it was happening. She just couldn’t accept that she was seeing results. Mainly because she had been burned so many times in the past.
After 6 months with Liz, she lost close to 20 lbs. and was able to graduate with a total mindset shift. She is LOVING the process and actually believes in herself. She stopped focusing so much on the outcome and feels like she has the tools to be successful for the long haul. And to put a bow on it, she wrote us a glowing review on social media. 🙂
Learning to focus on the process instead of the scale
Coach Leah had a major breakthrough with one of her clients. This particular individual has a history of under eating and a poor relationship with the scale. She would allow the scale to dictate her mood and it would prevent her from eating enough.
It has been a major struggle for her to get her calories up, which she needs to do to help remove stress off her system. Anyway, Coach Leah decided to take the scale away for a bit. Her client really struggled at first with not weighing herself.
But after a couple of weeks, she was able to increase her calories and started to notice that she felt better than she has in years!
Coach Kortney was up next and shared about her client who is also a nutrition coach. We are some of the toughest clients. Kortney’s client has been eating too little for a while (like 1300 calories) and things haven’t been progressing as a result.
This led to frustration and going down several rabbit holes about what could be causing her weight to stall. As a coach, it’s easy for us to ignore the basics that we teach clients and think there is something more complex that must be the solution for us. Well Kortney had a heart to heart with her and she finally realized that the chronic under eating was the issue.
They got her calories up over 300 calories more per day and she immediately broke through her plateau and started seeing progress again. Even coaches need to be reminded of the basics.
Sustainable results often come from a mindset shift.
Coach Ashley shared about some client struggles that turned into client wins. She had a couple of clients who were having a hard time with their mindsets. They would have excuses each week about why they couldn’t follow through with what they said they would do.
Even during check-ins, they seemed to have a bit of a wall up and were more focused on external variables than internal responsibility. Ashley was able to use some active listening and motivational interviewing to have some major breakthroughs.
By listening and asking the right questions, both clients put their guards down, and started following through. One is down over 10 lbs. in 6 months and the other is starting to see serious progress as well.
Meghan shared one of the biggest challenges we face as a team. When we know with absolute certainty that we can help someone. Change their life forever. Solve their problems and get them the results that they previously believed were unattainable and yet …
They decide not to join. They come up with any reason to remain stuck. It’s heartbreaking. And frustrating. I chimed in and mentioned that it’s probably the thing I struggle with the most, as a business owner.
But Meghan’s takeaway was that even if they aren’t ready at that time … her conversation with them is another seed that is planted that will hopefully sprout into change. And that we can only control what we do. We can’t control what anyone else does. An important reminder.
Looking for sustainable results? Personalized nutrition coaching can help you achieve them!
Steve shared the same win that I shared at the beginning. That these weekly calls help to solidify the fact that when someone reaches out about coaching … we’ve helped a ton of individuals just like them. It gives him the confidence that when he’s on a call with a woman in her 40’s or 50’s who feels like nothing ever works for her and she’s going through perimenopause or menopause.. that he can share countless stories of people that got incredible results coming to us from a very similar background.
And lastly was Amy who shared that she’s taking on the added responsibility of making sure that I look presentable when I go on camera. Which is a tall task since I typically just let it fly in whatever condition I’m in. This was in response to me doing a video with my hair in an unplanned mohawk. I guess my bed head, disheveled look isn’t for everyone ;).
My hope is that you continue to see yourself in these stories. And that you get a glimpse into just how special our team is at POP and the change and transformation that we’re able to facilitate.
In years past, the only way you could join us was through 1 on 1 coaching.
Now, we have other options that have dramatically lowered the barrier of entry.
You can see the details of each program that we offer right here.
