You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.
Think about the power of this moment for one second.
Like … actually stop what you’re doing and focus.
There have been millions and millions of micro actions, events, and decisions that have led you to this exact moment in time.
Where you are this moment is the cumulative effect of everything in the past.
Wherever you are. Whatever you’re going through …
It’s the cumulative effect of everything that has preceded this moment.
Some sources estimate that we make 35,000 decisions per day.
Researchers at Cornell estimate that we make 226.7 decisions on food alone each day.
I’m sure that 0.7 decision is key lol.
And all of those micro decisions … mixed with a whole bunch of random shit that you can’t control have equated to this exact moment.
That’s pretty wild to think about.
But it’s also quite comforting.
You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.
It may not be where you want to be.
And that’s ok.
Because you get to decide where you go from here.
The future is uncertain.
Humans hate uncertainty.
However, it should make you feel empowered that the destination is yours for the taking.
The problem that we often face is that we put so much of our time and energy on the final product.
I want 50 lbs. of fat off my body. I want to be my leanest by summer. I want X amount of dollars in my bank account.
Let’s use the first example.
If you are 50 lbs. away from where you want to be …
It’s because of every single decision you’ve made up until this point.
Some of them were more impactful than others.
But they all played a role. In other words …
You shaped your life in a way that led to you arriving at this moment.
Whether it was intentional or not … doesn’t matter.
What matters is that you understand this simple fact.
Because if the life you shaped got you here to this moment …
Then the life you shape moving forward is going to determine where you end up.
This is a process game.
The process is always greater than the product. (Shout out to Inky Johnson for that one).
You have to be willing to reshape the life you’re living to achieve the life you want.
Read that again.
Now, there are certain values that you likely hold near and dear to your heart.
Keep those with you.
They will help guide the process.
For example, if you value connecting with your family over dinner.
Then, it should be easy to forgo the diet that forces you to drink a shake for dinner while the rest of your family is eating together.
While reshaping your life to align the process with your core desires …
You will have to let go.
There are plenty of vices and crutches that we all have that don’t serve us.
Be grateful for the role they played in your life so far.
Then wish them well as you move on.
I appreciate the emotional void that food would fill for me during a time in my twenties when I was figuring out who I was.
Eventually, I had to say goodbye to that vice.
It served a purpose until it didn’t.
This process takes radical honesty with yourself.
It also requires truly knowing what you want.
Defining success is scary.
Once you define success … you also define failure.
It should be very apparent why most people are aimless through this process.
It’s not easy.
But I’ll keep repeating this fact …
You don’t have to be “most people.”
Or, you can choose to be “most people.”
There is no right or wrong here.
Simply what you want.
And then making it happen.
Who do you want to become from this moment on?
As you have spent this time with me this morning, afternoon, evening, or whenever you’re reading this …
Consider what you want to accomplish.
Consider the vision you have for the person you want to become.
And start to identify how that person lives his/her life.
What decisions do they make?
What actions do they take?
Ask that question whenever you’re stuck.
What would they do in this situation?
Then try to act accordingly.
If this was helpful in any type of way for you … I’d love to hear.
