Fitness and Nutrition: You Should be Skeptical

by | Feb 13, 2020

There’s a lot of fitness and nutrition crap out there and it makes sense to do your due diligence before deciding what’s going to be the right fit for you.

However, don’t allow your skepticism to result in inaction. Because that will guarantee that you remain stuck.

You can be skeptical and still take action. Here’s a perfect example of what that looks like…

“When I started this Neurotype journey, about 9 months ago, I was super skeptical.

I had come from a nutrition “coaching” company where I ended up gaining 30 pounds and felt constantly unheard, being told to “trust the process, to stop running” (I love running!).

Needless to say, I eventually broke up realizing it was them and not me, and found my way to Mike’s Neurotype Training group . I was pretty jaded and decided to just give the workouts a try, not ready to let someone else tell me how/what to eat for fear of a repeat.

I loved the workouts (they were created based on MY personality), and the group gave me a chance to silently lurk and see what Mike and his crew were all about. Low and behold, they seemed to be talking about individualization. Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard it all before.

But, in that time, because I was gaining confidence in training consistency again, I lost a few pounds and was really curious, so decided to go all in to the first challenge (Summer Hustle), willing to try nutrition coaching and ready to bolt if it didn’t feel right.

I was connected with April, who didn’t “prescribe” macros, but rather got to know me, what I needed, what MY goals were, and gave me a starting point with food, adjusting if/when necessary. Turns out, because of this level of true individualization and a skilled and caring coach, the challenge didn’t feel like a challenge at all…yes, I was doing work, but I felt great, and it didn’t feel forced for even one second.

The emphasis in the group was mindset, and I ended up going through some major transformations in that department. I learned to trust myself again when it came to nutrition and training. I learned to redefine consistency and that I had all of the knowledge and skills to accomplish my goals.

Post-challenge, Mike called and asked about the experience (actually wanted feedback!) and asked if I wanted to continue with one-on-one coaching. I did, and it’s been the best decision ever.

April has worked with me to let go of that need for perfection and to recognize and celebrate the small wins along the way. It’s guidance without judgment and a truly personal connection which makes all the difference.

Oh yeah, the difference…so far it’s dropping those 30 pounds over the past 9 months, but more important than what I’ve lost is what I’ve gained: renewed self-confidence, trust, the knowledge that I am in control of my actions, that I define my consistency, a new energy and truly integrating training into my life in a way that feels true to who I am and supports the goals I have created for myself.

And I’ve only just begun!”

If you’re ready to do things differently… in a way that actually aligns with who you are and what you value… then schedule a call today.

We’ll chat for a while and see if it’s a good fit. I’ll be honest with you either way as long as you’re honest with me.
