Resiliency is the Name of the Game

by | May 15, 2020

You probably don’t realize just how important this is …

RESILIENCY.

You’re probably like … don’t insult me, Michael, I know it’s important to be resilient.

I thought I did too … until I did more research and holy crap ?

First, let’s define resiliency

– The ability to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness
– The ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity

Basically, it’s how you handle adversity, challenges, or negative situations.

Why is resiliency important?

Research tells us that resilient individuals are more successful in … well, just about everything.

It also tells us that resiliency is something that can be learned, taught, built, grown.

Let’s take it even further …

Resilient individuals report better relationships, less of a need to project anger and frustration on their partner, and high self-confidence.

They experience less anxiety and depression.

And, they have less negative self-talk.

They don’t feel victimized (or say things like “why me”) and also don’t victimize other people.

In terms of fitness, resilient individuals experience less body image issues, report higher body satisfaction, and are less likely to have a disordered relationship with food.

I’d argue that resiliency is the single most important attribute or skill to develop – that nobody is talking about.

Something we all have in common …

Here’s some more truth …

Every single person … regardless of where you live, what you do, how old you are, your race, your gender, your occupation, your political affiliation, your background, your upbringing, or your life experience … has experienced and will experience some form of pain and suffering.

It’s an inevitable fact.

It’s something we all have in common. It’s something that can actually make us feel connected because no matter who we encounter … we at least share that one commonality.

We all have our shit and we all deal with stress. We’ve all experienced pain.

Therefore, building resiliency has universal application.

We all need it. Every single one of us.

I’m going to dive into more details about this but I actually did a podcast interview with a badass dude named Craig Weller, who has a world of experience building resiliency.

So first, I’d love for you to listen.
