Get Rid of the Dieter’s Mindset to Hit Your Goals

by | Sep 2, 2021

There’s something you’re doing that will keep you stuck forever.

Not only will it keep you stuck but it’ll also leaving you lacking.

Lacking fulfillment.

Lacking confidence.

Lacking in all areas of your life.

Kind of scary to think about.

And, you’re very likely doing it right now.

It’s worse than over eating.

It’s worse than under eating.

So, what is it?

It’s operating with a dieter’s mindset.

When you operate with a dieter’s mindset:

  • You believe in perfection.
  • You seek out reasons to restrict yourself.
  • You always believe that less is the answer.
  • You’re very much on or off.
  • You grade yourself for your food choices.
  • Your thoughts are consumed by food 24/7.
  • You have no room for balance, room for error, or room for enjoyment.

Sure, you might let loose every once in a while but the next day you feel guilty AF and likely over compensate with extra exercise and lower calories.

The dieter’s mindset skews your perception of reality.

You may think you’ve been under eating for quite some time but this mindset only focuses on the days that you’re perfect.

And ignores the binge side of the equation or doesn’t want to confront it.

The dieter’s mindset:

  • Makes you believe that you have no control around food.
  • Creates a false sense of unworthiness.
  • Shows up on date nights, family dinners, and vacations.
  • Tells you that you are the problem, that you just need more discipline, that you just need more willpower,  that you just need to stop over indulging and be more consistent.
  • Is why you blame yourself for every slight misstep along the way.

The dieter’s mindset is ruthless.

It’ll leave you searching for answers where there are no answers to be found.

It’ll have you gravitating towards the next fad.

It’ll attach to the most extreme methods.

It’ll chew you up and spit you out and then have you crawling back for more.

You know if this is you.

You can feel it in your gut.

It’s not a pleasant feeling.

It can feel hopeless at times.

The dieter’s mindset sends you down the path of “why bother” because operating with the dieter’s mindset and being “on” is fuckin stressful.

It’s overwhelming.

It’s a lot of pressure.

So the idea of saying “why bother” is often way more appealing than trying to be perfect.

Maybe it’s time to ditch the dieter’s mindset.

There IS a better way.

And you ALWAYS have a choice.

You can take back control.

It sure AF won’t be easy.

The dieter’s mindset still loves to make frequent visits inside my own mind.

I’ve worked to tell that MF’er to get lost and yet the dieter’s mindset loves to remind me that it’s always just one thought away.

But, I’m way more equipped to acknowledge it … say hello, nice to see you again, but sorry, we’re good, and continue doing what I know is best for me.

I want the same for you.

Otherwise, your progress will be temporary at best.

I don’t want that for you.

I want you to have success for the rest of your life.
