Is Fat Loss In the Cards?

by | Apr 23, 2021

All I ever needed was a deck of cards.

I could entertain myself for hours.

On family trips, we’d always have a deck of cards handy …

War, spit, gin, slap jack, rummy, go fish … great times.

There’s certainly a lot of luck involved but when you play a game long enough, you start to pick up on patterns.

Some are more obvious than others, like a 2 in war will always be a shit card.

Some are less obvious, like paying attention to what cards have already been discarded in gin.

Are you aware of the fat loss myths?

Now, imagine having full awareness around some of those patterns and yet, you still keep making the same mistakes?

For example, you know that a 2 is a shit card in war but you keep hoping it will win.

Or, you’re waiting for a card that’s already been discarded and expecting an impossible outcome.

Welcome to dieting.

Eating less and exercising more will always be a 2.

It requires a very fortunate turn of events for that to be successful.

And yet, you’ve been throwing deuces out there for years, hoping that maybe this time will be different.

The ‘2’ in dieting comes in various forms.

I saw someone post about struggling with tracking macros.

And, in epic social media form … someone jumped in and said “just fast, then you can eat whatever you want without tracking anything as long as it’s within your feeding window.”

Riiiiiight, so 10,000 calories in an 8 hour feeding window isn’t really 10,000 calories?

What people usually mean when they say “just fast” is to just eat less by reducing the amount of time you have to eat.

We might consider that the 2 of hearts.

Their heart is in the right place but it’s still a 2.

Someone else heroically jumped in and said to eat keto. “Remove carbs and you don’t have to count anything.”

Ahhh, I forgot that 10,000 calories from protein and fats don’t actually store as body fat.

Must have missed that in my nutritional science course.

What they really mean is eat less by eliminating an entire food group.

We might consider that the 2 of clubs.

Because they should be clubbed in the head for their stupidity (joking … kind of).

How about eating clean?

My favorite comment was the “just eat clean foods” person.

This used to be me so it was a fun trip down memory lane.

First of all, what constitutes a “clean” food?

Second, there are plenty of very high calorie “clean” foods.

And finally, can I live? (said in my best Jay-Z voice).

What they mean is, just eat less by avoiding all “bad/dirty” foods.

We might consider that the 2 of spades.

Because a spade is used to dig up dirt and I’d rather eat dirt than only ever “eat clean.” #teamdirty

Then we have the mother of them all …

The “you can eat whatever you want just as long as you’re in a calorie deficit” comment.

People love to drop that line as if they’re adding serious value to someone’s life.

Most of the time, they’re out there prescribing 1200 calorie meal plans and telling their clients that “anything fits.”

We might consider this the 2 of diamonds.

Because diamonds are forever and this fuckin thing just won’t go away.

No matter how you dress up that 2 … it’s going to be hard to win the war.

Rather than playing a totally different card, you keep going back to a different suit of the same damn card.

Look at the discard pile.

Look back at your dieting history – what hasn’t worked?

What you’ll see is decades worth of 2’s that haven’t won.

Like almost 100% of the 2’s have lost.

What makes you think that this time will be different?

You’ve got a winning hand inside you but it will require you to pay attention to those patterns and to think a bit differently.

There IS a better solution for fat loss

For starters, we can scrap the fat loss myth of ‘eat less, exercise more’ and all its various forms and disguises.

We can actually get you eating enough so that your body isn’t in a constant state of stress and fighting to hold on to body fat.

We can align your plan with your personality so you actually feel better through the process and stay more consistent.

We can … gasp … incorporate things you enjoy into the process like social events, date nights, alcohol, vacations, etc. regardless if they’re clean or not. 😉

We can match your nutrition with your training so you can actually perform and recover better which will allow your body to change the way you want it to.

And, we can monitor your daily stressors and habits to ensure that you can be successful for life. That way, you may have some days that are a 2 or a 3 … but you’ll always win the war in the long run.

We can guide you through that exact process in 6 months to achieve the body composition goals you desire along with improving your mindset and relationship with food.

It’s what we do. It works. And, all it takes is for you to take a stand and decide that your never ending string of 2’s needs to stop.

When you’re ready to stop dieting and play a different hand, just shoot me a message on FB

Let’s see if we can hook you up with the right cards 🙂
