When I first got into nutrition coaching, I thought it was a simple math game.
Calories in vs. calories out, right?
It made so much sense. I just needed to calculate maintenance calories and deliver a macro plan and the magic would happen.
This actually worked for my first ever client so I came out of the gates super confident that I was going to change the world with my macro calculating knowledge.
It didn’t take long until I was eating a big slice of humble pie.
Not only was I unable to recreate that macro magic with other clients, but I also started to educate myself and challenge some of my existing beliefs.
It became very apparent.
Yes, calories in vs. calories out still applies.
HOWEVER, that’s an overly simplistic and myopic view of nutrition.
Good nutrition is more than a macro plan
There are so many variables at play that it’s damn near impossible to plug numbers into a formula and actually produce results.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably said to yourself on more than one occasion … “I don’t understand why my macros aren’t working!”
Well, I’m going to explain why they aren’t working.
First of all, they may not be the right macros for you.
Most programs use a standard formula that doesn’t factor in any individual variables.
That’s because no formula will account for the unique stressors in your life, your schedule, your hormonal profile, your personality, your habits, and your mindset.
All things that matter but can’t be reduced to a calculator.
Second, you might need less tracking and macro obsession.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen individuals obsess over hitting their macros down to the gram every single day.
They sacrifice quality of life and a social life in the name of being “compliant.”
And they get frustrated AF when things don’t move.
When we tell them to track less, to have more freedom and flexibility, to focus more on enjoyment and fulfillment …
Typically, they have some initial anxiety.
How the hell am I going to get results if I’m not 100,000% dialed in?
Then, they really enjoy having their life back. They’re more connected with their family, they get to eat foods they’ve been depriving themselves of, and they are having more fun.
That’s usually when we get a text that says something like “holy shit, I can’t believe I’m losing weight by tracking less and being less strict!”

How do you know if a plan will work for YOU?
There’s a very simple way to know if a particular diet, macro plan, or coaching program will work for you.
It’s a quick test you can use to spot major red flags and avoid wasting time and money.
I’m going to reveal that on Thursday, September 24th at 7 pm EST in a FREE training!
This particular training is limited to 200 people only! If you need to watch the replay, you still need to register.
