The Dirty Little Secret About Fat Loss

by | Jun 21, 2022

The dirty little secret about fat loss that no one tells you …

First of all, fat loss is a personal goal that you don’t have to want.

And if you do want it, you don’t have to feel bad about wanting it.

Don’t let anyone tell you what your goals “should” be.

You want to pursue fat loss? Cool.

You don’t want to pursue fat loss? Also cool.

Now that we got that out of the way, there seems to be a massive misunderstanding about how to effectively make fat loss happen.

You’ve probably been told your entire life that the key to fat loss is eating less and exercising more.

Or you’ve read thousands of posts from “gurus” and influencers about how a calorie deficit is the key to losing fat.

This is an example of people trying to make valid points … but not being particularly useful.

Because what they fail to mention is … the collateral damage that can occur from always eating less or living in a constant calorie deficit.

Here’s a secret about fat loss … eating less and moving more will work for a shockingly short amount of time.

How long?

It depends on the person but don’t expect to ride that horse for much longer than 12 weeks.

Oh, and there’s also the part where most people can’t sustain those results for very long because the method of getting there made them feel like crap.

Have you ever lost weight and gained it back?

Yeah me too. Many times over.

And it makes perfect sense when you understand this simple truth …

Fat loss is a deviation from homeostasis.

Eating in a deficit is a stressor.

Trying to eat less for months, years, decades at a time … well, that’s a giant fuck you to your body.

So of course those results won’t last.

Your body doesn’t particularly enjoy being fucked with and it will fight back to restore “normalcy.”

Why doesn’t anyone tell you this?

Because it sucks to hear.

You mean I can’t just slash calories and live happily ever after?

Sorry, Optavia. Doesn’t work that way.

When you take that approach for an extended period of time, you’ll start to notice some fun side effects.

Your energy will tank, your cravings will become more intense, your mood will suffer, your sleep will suck, your sex drive will end up in the toilet, you’ll get sick more often, and your cycle will disappear.

Here’s another fat loss secret that no one tells you …

The more you power through those red flags … the more it begins to feel normal.

You may have even said things like … “Even though I’m only eating 1,000 calories per day … I’m just not hungry.”

That’s because you’ve been ignoring your hunger signals for too long.

You may even feel like your energy is fine.

That’s because you don’t remember what it feels like to actually have energy.

Once you understand what fat loss is …

And what your body does as a means to adapt …

And the short-lived nature of eating less and moving more …

The solution becomes quite clear.

Stop pursuing fat loss for endless amounts of time.

Stop being extreme. Stop living in a deficit all year.

Start giving your body what it needs to feel safe.

There are plenty of ways to accomplish this but none of them matter if you can’t get out of the restrictive mindset.

Can we at least agree that if it was going to work for you, it probably would’ve worked by now?

History leaves clues.

Use the past to make better decisions in the present.

The most effective way to lose body fat and sustain it …

Is through periodization.

Another secret about fat loss … it’s easier with a coach!

I prefer to start with our Neurotyping principles.

Reason being … by understanding your personality type and the role it plays in your nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle …

You’ll be able to stay consistent, put less stress on your body, will enjoy the process more, and will feel more mentally engaged.

Then, I prefer to go through a Metabolic priming phase.

Effectively it means eating enough to support your activity levels, the stress in your life, and proper recovery while implementing quality habits that serve you for life.

This leads to a dramatic improvement in energy levels, mood stability, sleep quality, sex drive, and body composition.

The key here is that your body actually feels safe in letting go of unwanted body fat instead of fighting against you to preserve energy.

If done properly, it’ll also allow you to take short and intentional periods of cutting to speed up the process.

The key words are short and intentional. And since we’ve got your body in a position to respond well … it’ll feel sustainable and allow for more flexibility.

The final piece is making sure that everything you’re doing fits your lifestyle.

Meaning, it should accommodate for the things you enjoy in life like having a drink on occasion, dining out, vacations, travel, social events, etc.

Those things should be built into the process.

Execute those phases and you can easily achieve your goals with total food freedom and finally stop feeling like you’re banging your head against the wall.

This works extremely well and it’s the exact process we put our clients through in our 6 month, 1 on 1 coaching program.

On average, they’re able to lose 20-30 lbs, get the body they desire, and heal their relationship with food.

If you are tired of doing this on your own and want to relieve the mental energy it’s costing you …
